Summary 

As an IT Field Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing the highest level of support to all company employees. This position requires excellent customer service skills, an understanding of IT technologies and perform duties with a high degree of professionalism at all times. The IT Field Specialist position often requires outdoor work in all weather conditions.  Applicant is responsible for providing technical support to in house users as well as field personnel. Duties also include: 

  

  • Prioritize, monitor, work and track incoming helpdesk tickets and phone calls.
  • Ability to build and maintain end user/customer relationships.
  • Provide remote or onsite service to end-users on software- and hardware-related problems.
  • Perform first-level diagnosis for customer issues using remote support software.
  • Ability to open, track, and take ownership of service requests assigned by the corporate helpdesk as well as open and work locally generated service requests to resolution.
  • Manage customer communications and setting appropriate expectations.
  • Prioritizing numerous issues of varying severity and effectively managing the resolution of all issues within accepted service levels.
  • Ability to learn and be knowledgeable of the environment and systems.
  • Have a basic understanding of networking hardware in order to assist network personnel in troubleshooting issues and installation of new or replacement hardware.
  • Able to diagnose and resolve complex technical hardware and software issues
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, upgrade, and maintenance of desktops, laptops, networked printers, scanners, video cards, system boards, projectors, Wi-Fi cards, switches, wireless access points, point to point repeaters  etc.
  • Ability to configure end user profile settings to use Terminal Services/Remote Desktop, Citrix and VPN software.
  • Ability to provision and configure iPhone/Android devices as well as perform other smart phone/tablet support.
  • Ability to learn and support new technology.
  • Participate in team meetings with the ability to assist with appropriate brainstorming, problem solving, decision making, and project planning techniques
  • Ability to work with helpdesk, application support and tier 2 technical support personnel on issue resolution as well as new hardware/software implementations. .

  

Qualifications 

  • 3-5 years’ experience in desktop support, IT concepts and hardware/software troubleshooting
  • Bachelors or equivalent experience preferred 
    IT Field support experience preferred
  • Familiar with Microsoft suite of products (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with network equipment, phone systems (VOIP or Analog), and wireless devices
  • Demonstrated customer awareness, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to think and troubleshoot logically, and act decisively in critical situations 

Essential Duties 

  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately
  • Ability to work a 40-hour on-site work week with on-call availability
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, at a workstation or in meetings
  • Ability to move up to 50 lbs of hardware and equipment
  • Ability to work on lines and wires on or near the floor and in ceilings
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time in a vehicle or on an airplane
  • Ability to use hands and fingers dexterously to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
