Job Description

Business Unit: Corporate


Develops and conducts training programs for employees of organization by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in needs analysis studies to determine training needs within organization
  • Confers with management to gain knowledge of specific work situations requiring employees to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and technologies
  • Formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops
  • Selects or develops teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works
  • Selects or develops testing and evaluation procedures to be used at completion of training
  • Conducts training sessions covering specified areas such as new employee orientation, on-the-job training, use of computers and software, apprenticeship programs, customer service, sales techniques, health and safety practices, public relations, refresher training, promotional development, upgrading, retraining displaced workers, and leadership development
  • Tests trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training
  • Reports on progress of employees under guidance during training periods
  • Revises design of training curriculum and methods to improvement effectiveness

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Possesses problem solving abilities to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Works well in group problem solving situations
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively; speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations
  • Listens well and requests clarification when necessary; Responds well to questions; Demonstrates group presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate, both written and verbal, clearly. Informatively, and effectively
  • Must be a team player and have the ability to manage both team and individual responsibilities; Contributes to building a positive team spirit; Supports everyone's efforts to succeed
  • Safeland Instruction Certification preferred
  • Experience in classroom instruction
  • Minimum 1 year of experience providing HSE services or accredited college degree in safety
  • Minimum 6 months of relevant oil and gas experience
