Job Description

Business Unit: Water Sourcing

Summary

The Water Sourcing Specialists work directly with the water sources in the field. The Specialist will ensure all processes and procedures leading to the completion of information gathering to make decisions on the source of the water and the cost of the route for the water to be used. Assist in right of way and water transfer routes. This position also supports daily operations, business analysis, market strategy, sales and various development initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Right of way negotiations and water transfer route access
  • Permitting/access, TX DOT and country permitting
  • Landowner negotiations for temporary access
  • Various other entities with right-of-way to be utilized
  • Negotiate with landowners regarding securing resources and access
  • Water permitting with local, state, federal for ground water, surface water and waste water
  • Utilize Google Earth to map potential routes, clients and sources
  • Read and analyze USGS topographic maps
  • Record sales, transfer volumes, and other activities in an organized and efficient manner to meet internal and regulatory requirements

  • Knowledge of principles for presenting expectations to management, customers, and landowners
  • Demonstrated ability to provide the highest level of customer services to internal and external customers

  • Aptitude to learn new software and skills quickly
  • Familiar and comfortable with water transfer equipment and logistics
  • Familiar and comfortable with water supply contracts and negotiations

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

  • Must possess valid drivers’ license and be eligible to drive a company vehicle according to Select’s insurance guidelines

Minimum Qualifications

  • Water Resource education, related field experience or Landman background
  • 1-2 years’ experience in water related operations
  • Some regulatory experience is a plus
  • Willingness to grow and develop with the position as it evolves
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task, manage changing priorities and work independently with little or no supervision
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Must be willing to travel to remote locations and spend considerable time at field locations
  • Must possess valid drivers’ license and eligible to drive a company vehicle according to Select’s insurance guidelines

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift 1-15lbs
  • Involves sitting at a desk for extended periods of time
  • Manual dexterity to operate specialized equipment
  • Ability to hear telephone conversations and speak clearly
  • Needs high degree of concentration in a busy area
  • Requires working outdoor, subject to outside environment conditions

Working Conditions

  • Monday through Friday
  • Evenings/Weekends as needed
