Job Description 

This position provides industrial automation expertise and leadership to support Select Water Solutions operations. This position will work with other Technology personnel to drive continuous improvement of Select’s operations.

 

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to

  • Developing and designing scalable technology solutions
  • Implementing and maintaining automated equipment
  • Troubleshooting existing automated assets
  • Training automation and field personnel on operating equipment
  • Working across service lines for seamless automation operations
  • Support the Director of Engineering regarding technological development, operations, and solutions used in the company
  • Functions as PLC programmer and system expert for PLC based automation; designing, building, testing, and implementing automation solutions for Select.
  • Maintains excellent written communication stakeholders about developments and plans
  • Lead testing and implementation in the field for new products and projects
  • Maintains and strives to improve established automated systems and installations
  • Provides all aspects of support and work with a professional and positive attitude.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks with team or independently.
  • Protects operations by keeping information confidential
  • Manages data collection infrastructure from device to PLC.
  • Maintains workflow and programming documentation for all work by writing and updating procedures.
  • Builds and maintains cause and effect matrixes for both existing and new PLC programs.
  • Manages the creation and maintenance of wiring diagrams
  • Works with Project Managers and the application development team to create a Functional Requirements Document for new projects
  • Understands the complexities of data collection both online and offline to ensure integrity of historical data to be communicated to Ignition SCADA and front-end databases.

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • 3+ years of documented PLC programming/Automated systems/SCADA integration experience
  •  Expert understanding of industrial automation processes, including hardware software and electrical aspects of such systems
  •  B.S. in Engineering or equivalent or demonstrable Engineering/PLC Programming experience
  •  Required Experience in the following areas:
    • Industrial automated process control
    • PLC programming
    • HMI design/programming
    • Problem solving/troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems
    • Advanced I&E knowledge and skillset
    • Allen Bradly-RS Logix 5000/Studio 5000
  •  Preferred Experience in the following areas:
    • Project Management
    • Oil and Gas
    • SCADA programming
    • Problem solving/troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems
    • Electrical system standards and safety standards

Beneficial Skills:

  • Ignition SCADA, Industrial communication networks, CIP/Ethernet IP communications protocols, MODBUS protocol, CANbus protocol, Siemens PLCs, TIA Portal, FactoryTalk View Studio, Cybersecurity and Industrial Network Design
